Hey everyone, I'm Chris from Michigan and have been collecting coins for years waiting for retirement so I can pick up where "Uncle Bob" left off. Uncle Bob Grupy was a brewmaster for Ballantine Brewery in New Jersey for close to 50 years until retiring to South Carolina and dedicating his time to collecting and writing in the old Coin Collector magazines, long before the Internet. Bob got me started as a kid, sending Proof Sets and Mint Sets to me for Birthdays, Christmas gifts and the like. Sadly, Bob passed away at a time when I was stuck in Hawaii and before you knew it, my Aunt Marge had donated his entire collection to the local church. This was back in 1994 and the collection had been appraised at over $600,000 !!! Apparently Aunt Marge didn't appreciate the time that goes into a coin collecting hobby. To think what the collection would be worth now is upsetting but I'm ready to pick up where Bob left off. I'm hoping some of you Pros can help me figure out if I'm holding anything of value. I'm happy to join this community and look forward to doing some reading and catching up.

Best of luck following your uncle's example! Maybe you could read some archives of his old collecting articles to connect with his particular style. He's probably just be excited that you are interested in his beloved hobby. =)
