Forum has a page you can download out of print reference books including the British Museum. You could also try the ANS online database or the British Museum current online database. Sometimes scarce coins are not found in current online auction databases like acsearch.info or numista. Once in a while there's a new type discovered.

You could try archive.org but there's several thousand ancient coins books/auctions there!!!

It there's a good library in your area they may have reference books like Han Von Aulock volumes Sylloge Nummorum Greacorum.

With hundreds of ancient mint cities and hundreds of years timeframe, well a search can be daunting but experience helps narrow it down.
