Anybody collect those "squished" souvenir coins? Those ones you put in the machines and turn the handle to "mash" an image on a penny. Before they changed the machines, I accidentally inserted a dime. Came out pretty cool looking.

Yes, elongated cents! I pick them up when I travel places. Most are cents, but some also make nickels, dimes, and quarters. Here is a website that lists machine locations around the US.

I have a couple around, but I had more fun squishing them on railroad tracks. On the best of them, the images looked like ghosts.

At first I thought that those were the dumbest things ever. As the number of children and the souviner budget increased, I realized that not only do I like coins so these are perfect for me, but where else can I can buy for $.51?

I carry a tube of pre-1982 cents with me on vacation and anytime we go to someplace that might have one. Now, I get everyone I see (yes all three or four designs from each machine)

I always get them when we travel and stop at different Souvenir stores, hotels and the like. I never get to keep them as my kids take them from me for their collections.
