Sap Moderator Australia 16883 Posts	Posted 06/27/2007 05:50 am Fortunately, the Krause catalogue for the 1600's covers Papal States coins quite well. This is a large, crown-sized coin, I presume? The design matches the silver piastra if Pope Innocent IX, KM# 451.2 (Anno VIII, date inside wreath). It catalogues at $100 in VG, $200 in Fine; the mount may devalue this coin somewhat, especially since such damage is a common fate of papal coins. I'm not familiar enough with the series to comment on whether it's genuine or not.
