Does anyone know if the Royal Canadian Mint was one of the third party suppliers for the 2 Cent Euro coins struck by any number of countries in Europe? Zimmy Valued Member United States 462 Posts	Posted 12/03/2018 10:14 pm SPP....I have a Great Britain undated Two Pence and a 2001 One Penny each struck on a grooved Edge 2 Euro planchet. The only thing I know is that The Royal Mint was striking 2 Cent Euros for other countries and that these planchets were available in 2001 even though the 1st Euros were issued in January of 2002. SPP-Ottawa Moderator Canada 10471 Posts	Posted 12/03/2018 10:29 pm Funny you should bring this up Zimmy, I spoke recently with the production manager in the RCM Winnipeg plant, and he confirmed that the RCM sourced copper-plated steel planchets from Europe for striking the Canadian 1-cent coins (business strikes). A grooved 2-cent Euro planchet ended up in one of those shipments, and was struck by Canadian 1-cent dies. I am first writing the article for Errorscope, and then submitting it to PCGS to attribution. I suspect this one is unique.
