1999-P Struck Thru And Copper Cuts - Coin Community Forum

coppercoins Pillar of the Community United States 7629 Posts	Posted 03/17/2009 12:31 am I don't see a struck through of any kind here. I see marks on the planchet that were left behid by the strike. They could be the result of incomplete cuts or could just be simple damage to the planchet before the strike. Given this, it would be considered an error, but I am not sure what kind of error or whether it would warrant any premium value. This is one for Mike Diamond to comment on. This first one seems to have wider and deeper cuts in the devices, that's why I assumed it was a struck through. I'll run this by Mr. Diamond and see what he has to say. Report this Post to the Staff

I can't speculate on what caused them. I haven't seen damage exactly like this before, but pre-strike damage is endlessly variable. Error coin writer and researcher. Report this Post to the Staff
