I've got this Sesquicentennial Liberty Bell watch fob (or whatever it is) that, while not silver, did not cost me $750.  Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

There's no way I would pay $750 for a 1/2 ounce of silver. The bell looks as if it was a after though. I can see the conversation. Oops I forgot to design that bell. Here this will work. Yes, I'm sure. Don't worry, people will buy anything that we mint. 750? We should charge more it's a collector's piece.

For $750, they could at least have fixed the crack.

You'd be far better off spending $750 on airfare to Philadelphia and seeing the Liberty Bell in person. Independence Hall (which is proudly displayed on the US $100 note) is right across the street, oh, and, by the way, the US Mint is also right across the street so you could drop in and give them a piece of your mind on this stupidity.

Thanks mods for updating the subject to reflect both gold and silver, but if we want to be totally accurate, the silver is a medal, gold are coins.  I mean, who wouldn't want a $250 face coin for $19,600? |
