2026-S-Penny---Silver-Proof-Set---Spot-On-Shield

There is a small dark circle on the shield of my penny. Anyone else have this marking? I'm not returning set. Does this mark devalue the penny or make it more intriguing? Just thought I would share. Comments?

I would have to return the set if it was mine.

If that spot is on the coin and not the plastic it hurts the value. I don't think the mint does exchanges, only returns for refund. You have 7 days from when you got it to start a return. If it were mine I'd send it back for refund and wait to see if they become available again. The mint will provide a free return label. Worst case if the mint sells out you can wait a few months and buy a set on ebay. I'd rather pay more to get a good set than have a coin with a problem, just my opinion.

I got a 1776 - 2026 1 oz proof gold eagle when the were released. It had defects in the field, I sent it back for refund.

I would contact the Mint ASAP (even faster) being that these sets are sold out they might be able to "find" you a replacement set or trade you a cent for cent (I know longshots, but that's all you got)

Now excuse me as I go and check out my sets.

It really looks like the Mint's quality control has gone downhill.

That's a pretty bad spot. It would definitely lower the value of the coin.

That's pretty bad - my OCD would be off the charts.

Yikes!

With the product limit, I fear a return might end up getting you a credit and not another set. If you did get another set, who says it would not be worse?

Unfortunately that would hurt the value, at least in theory. The low mintage helps, but there should be enough to satisfy demand between both proof sets that people who really want the cent can afford to cherrypick. One option is you could try to sell the coins individually and use the money to buy another set on the secondary market.

That's why I didn't bother to return my set, which granted had much less of a problem that the OP's.

Yes, I would have to keep it, especially knowing that I will also get the clad set which will hopefully have a better looking cent.
