The 2x2 flip stated that this was "triple struck". What I can see is that the lower part of the Jefferson bust is incomplete, and there are faint raised shadow images above and on either side of the dome on the reverse. Any insight as to what actually happened would be appreciated

It looks like a lot of die polishing happened on the obverse side not really seeing any 'triple' struck on the reverse, but some radial flow lines from a tire die.
Is this your coin? If so, can we get some close-ups?

@dearborn, I have the coin so I can take some closeups. What parts should I zoom in on?

Is it me or does Jefferson look decapitated with their head floating.

pix are a little dark to see much detail, but I see *some* Machine Doubling and what appears to be an over-polished die, which makes the head appear to be 'floating', sort of like the 'floating' roof effect on some late '60s/early '70s LMC reverses.

I agree with Dearborn. Definitely not "Triple Struck" as the holder said.
Errers and Varietys.

OK, thanks, folks: I'm calling it an overpolished die, some Machine Doubling, and a bit of hard to photograph die clash. I couldn't seeing any "triple strike" either, whatever the person who wrote that meant.

Yeah, when they scrubbed out that die clash, looks like they wore down the obverse die face right into the bust. Very over-polished. Pretty cool though! Similar in concept to the 3 and 3.5 legged Buffalo nickels.

My LCS gets collections where people have diligently labeled "errors" but I see nothing. It looks like this 'triple strike' was another of them. I had no skin in it so it was more a matter of curiosity. I figured that you guys would come to the bottom of it fairly quickly.
Thanks
