This was in a bulk lot of late 19th to mid 20th century world coins and I'm not sure what to make of it.

It has a brassy feel and appearance to it. I'm not sure if this was once a coin which got hammered and cracked or if it's some sort of hammered coin with a planchet crack. It could also be a piece of industrial trash, but having once walked away from a $5 blacksmith before knowing what they were, I'm no longer quick to judge

Hmmmm, looks like it might be an ancient Roman coin that was caught in the Vesuvius eruption.
