latman100 Pillar of the Community Australia 1040 Posts	Posted 07/04/2009 6:22 pm This is known as the "Blakesly effect". During the rimming process, pressure is applied to the blank to create the rim, the clipped area creates a release of pressure, which leads to a weakness in the rim directly opposite. You can see in the picture how the rim is a little flatter and broader directly opposite the clip compared to the rim on either side. Report this Post to the Staff
