Looks gold-plated to me. Is the red tone a reflection, or is that something on the coin?

That's just the way it looks, pretty strange. It is somewhat of a reflection, but the photo does pretty well expressing the actual color.

Maybe someone used a red thing or rag on the end of a drill and polished the coin but die from the rag stained the coin? lol.
