My 1917-S Standing Liberty Quarter - Coin Community Forum

Spud Valued Member United States 308 Posts	Posted 05/22/2015 9:06 pm I sent this Standing Liberty quarter to NGC and got an EF45 grade. I should have known because of the toning and lack of luster. But the grade looks like a AU53 to me with a possible full head. I'm wondering if I were to have them do a conservation on a coin like this if it would get a better grade? What do you all think? Should I pursue something like this to try and get a better grade? I like the coin like it is, but I think I would like it more if it were to have a higher grade. Imthealphaomega Pillar of the Community United States 3210 Posts	Posted 05/22/2015 9:31 pm Ask yourself is it worth it? Is there a dramatic increase in price from xf45 to AU? Greysheet is $195 in xf40 and $250 in AU and $300 ms60. If there was a huge difference then I would go for it. But in this case in my opinion it isn't worth any extra money for no guarantee in a higher grade. I would keep the coin as is because it is a nice coin. Your call your money, but I wouldn't sink any more $ into this coin personally. Report this Post to the Staff

Yours looks like it could be a FH, but there is no real premium until you get north of MS61. If you want to sell it, you could always crack it out and take your chances. Report this Post to the Staff
