I picked up a roll of toonies the other day and was happy to find that it was a new roll consisting solely of coloured and un-coloured $2 2017 coins.

I noticed that several of the coloured version had their coloured printed slightly offset, either up or to the right on the examples I had.

Here are a couple of pics showing the more extreme examples I found in my small sample (red arrow overlaid to make things more clear):

Coloured printing offset to the right

Coloured printing offset to the top

Not sure if printing differences constitute an "error" or even a "variety", but am just pointing it out so that others know what to look for in their pocket change.

Cheers!

That's pretty neat. The second one is really cool because the offset is upwards and so you see a gap between the mountains and the sky

Those are 'common', however I've see a few where the ink actually goes beyond the core's borders. I'll try to pay some scans tonight

Very cool! The one on the right seems to be the most offset. I wonder what the Mint's accepted tolerances are for their coloured coin printing process, and what would be considered a genuine variety in this case.

Will definitely be keeping an eye out for these.

Come on now, people have different collecting objectives, all of which deserve respect. Just because a coin doesn't interest you doesn't mean it's "junk".
