Gday Crew ,

Noodling through haul of Australian One Cents, I purchased 30kg of one cents in one hit and it turns out there are only 3 years in this bulk buy (66,67 & 87). In over 10,000coins purchased via gumtree approx 5000 of them seem to be Perth Mint 66s - (perth based collection). god knows how there are only three years in such a huge haul, I can only guess that there are other similar examples with different years floating around Perth.

During the haul I have found two ( out of 5-6000 1966 coins ) that have a double strike error I think - the chin and nose seem to be double struck but the letters etc are not . has anyone seen this before ?

cheers

Thanks Guys - I figured its just doubling and I didn't look hard enough for the doubling in the letters - I have spotted some Cud in the whiskers on the melbourne 66 1 cent also. Images inverted by my digital microscope ... just viewing through photo booth on mac , I should get a editor app to flip the image to the right was round . I have seen enough whiskers to last a life time but have also noted some discrepancies between the literature and the coins in regards to the mint marks. Ill do a post in the other forum page eventually.
