First Pink Savings
cares, so before I get into tonight's pickins I have to back up a few days.
regular readers here are aware that I posted that I had been ill over the 4th of july weekend, assuming I had some sort of food poisoning. scroll back & see several posts ago. the only thing that bothered me about my self-diagnosis was the lack of vomiting. a friend texted me some info yesterday, which I am going to share here. consider this a public service/safety announcement.
[in case you hadn't heard, the] CDC, FDA, and public health officials in several states are investigating a multi-state outbreak of Cyclospora infections linked to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in 5 states. Do not eat shredded iceberg lettuce from Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. CDC is also investigating other outbreaks and illnesses of cyclosporiasis nationally that are unrelated to this outbreak.
FAST FACTS:
Cases: more than 1,644
Hospitalizations: 94
Deaths: 0
States: 5
apparently this has been traced back to an outfit named Taylor Farms, unsure of the location. this was posted somewhere online and was forwarded to me:

i had all of the symptoms of cyclosporiasis. however, I'm unsure of what I may have eaten or where that food came from. I have no idea. I only know that I haven't had any iceberg lettuce or berries of any kind in the two weeks prior to my illness, so it's a mystery. anyone in those five states take note.
now onto the pickins.
last night stunk. I picked only fourteen cents... a nickel and a bunch of trashed zincolns. on my way home last night I had just five of those trashed zincolns in my pocket. frustrated & not happy, as I rolled into one of the final spots to check, I spotted five coins in the drive near what looked like a wad of a black rag. I stopped to pick them up: a nickel & four zincolns. I grumbled as I picked them up & pocketed them, noting the wet wad of black rag. I then went home.
tonight I had just twelve cents in my pocket- a dime and two zincolns- as I rolled into that very same location and spotted several coins in exactly the same place as last night, right beside that same wad of black rag. I stopped and picked up the coins... and as I was counting it up (forty-two cents, giving me fifty-four altogether), something in my head clicked and I picked up that black rag. lots of change fell out of it. turns out it was a black sock, and it was pretty shredded from being full of coins and run over dozens and dozens and dozens of times in the past 36-48 hours. all of the coins were pretty trashed, but I brought the coins home and gave them a bath. I scored $2.36 tonight. one of the coins was a 2022 quarter from the Eastern Caribbean States, bearing the likeness of Queen Elizabeth on one side. the rest was
US coinage.
so I wrapped a full roll of dimes and two rolls of cents tonight, added them to the bank bag. $94 to go to achieve $5K.
