Definitely counterfeit. The details are wrong.
Errers and Varietys.

The edge is wrong for starters: this piece has a milled edge, genuine 1797 dollars have a lettered edge.
I'd also want to hear a real good reason why a genuine coin would have a toning/tarnish pattern like that. Because this definitely looks like it got superficially "wiped" with some kind of fake-tarnish agent.

What makes this coin a clear fake? I get the beading post but what other things are there since most of the postings were so fast to say it was a fake?

Empty_Pockets Just do a side by side with a genuine coin. The date, facial features, hair, type font etc. are all different and that is just on the obverse.

I've seen several of these on ebay lately. All have reeded edges besides the other issues with them

i know very little about these old coins, but one look at it was all it took: fake. shame on ebay. just reading here on ccf, not going to the site, I constantly see ' ebay fakes' being posted here. terrible. (i'll stop right there because I want to carry on with a rant about other similar issues, but I don't want to stray off-topic)
