I realize the price will put it beyond many collectors' budgets, but I am surprised the Mint chose to lower the mintage for what is arguably the most anticipated release in the series. The set features a high-relief, one-ounce 24-karat gold reissue of the legendary 1804 Draped Bust dollar, paired with a one-ounce silver companion medal. The gold coin retains the original-style edge lettering and includes a special Liberty Bell "250" privy mark commemorating the nation's 250th anniversary. https://www.usmint.gov/best-of-the-...t-26BM4.html Does anyone know if these are available at the mint stores? macmercury Pillar of the Community United States 5851 Posts	Posted Yesterday 3:36 pm I think in this instance, it will sell out base on speculation that this design didn't came out in 2016, and people going to bust their credit card limit to get a hold on one of these, and sell on the secondary market to make a quick profit. The medal design on the obverse has a up to date modern portrait of miss liberty that I think looks refining compared to the gold coin, which I like it very much, the reverse earth with the cloud element and eagle also has a up to date feel, but the sun rays could have been done better, so that it doesn't cut into the text around it. Always been a fan of the draped bust design but having trouble justifying forking out $6k (guessing). If it was proof finish that might be enough to tilt me towards purchasing. On the other hand $6k could buy a nice non-details real draped bust dollar in a slab (not an 1804...). That medal is pretty sweet, wish they were available separate.
