The explorers series was put out in the early '70s and has twelve medals in the set. They are a plated base metal and don't have a lot of value, but do to the poor quality metal, aren't particularly easy to find in nice condition.

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
Thanks HondoB my understanding is that the roller marks are caused by bits of stuff present on the roller or stock that get pushed along creating scratch like defects on the stock. Do I have that right? Where does the random element come from? Trying to visualize it.
