I like those numbers: even in its condition, helps increase the value of the one I found!

I think there are 3 or 4 threads on this forum about this Elongated Ray.

What is the difference between these Elongated Ray coins?
2007-P George Washington $1 Elongated Ray, FS-901
2007-P George Washington $1 Elongated Ray, FS-902
Does that have anything to do with the "A" and "B" positioning?

From what I've seen:
The difference is the orientation of the edge lettering, there is no difference in the ray itself.

Thank you, snailking1. Yes, I really meant the orientation of the edge lettering designating them as the A and B positions.
I did see one for sale with the extended ray just about touching the arm area; it was very close, but not like the original we have all seen.
I need to get one of these 2007-D "Elongated-Ray" Washington Dollar to go with my 2000-P Sacagawea "Wounded Eagle" dollar FS-901

Edit: From Washington quarter to Washington Dollar.

@CoinForMe @snailking1

You're right, it a completely random thing. The orientation of the edge lettering means nothing! I think only PCGS does it.

By the way @CoinForMe it's a 2007-P not 2007-D. How do you plan on getting one of these Elongated Rays?

Letter position A and B has to be the dumbest "variety" in a long time. Sometimes I wonder if it wasn't just a completely cynical move by the grading companies to double the number of coins required to complete those dollar registry sets.

@Brandmeister - Absolutely! I also think these TPG'ers all need to be unique in their own special ways. Just more BS to deal with!
