I picked up a minor mint error coin in a Littleton plastic film envelope. Is there any reason to keep the packaging intact? i.e. would it protect the coin better than a traditional cardboard flip, or does the Uncirculated.60 designation add any value?

I would say no. Littleton packaging does not add any value to a coin - they are just an after market seller.

I might feel better if it were in a cardboard 2x2, but I would not be worried if it remained in the Littleton packaging.

Ok, that's kinda what I was thinking, but it's always good to ask. Thanks for the advice, guys. I will let this thread hang around in case there are dissenting opinions. I am in no hurry to cut that coin out of the package for photos or anything else.

The Littleton packaging ads no value and the coin can slide around in it. Personally I would put it in a 2x2, or however you are going to store it, so you can label it with the error info.

Yikes! I guess that's the end of that discussion. It will come out of the plastic when I'm ready to take some photographs, and go into a proper flip. Thanks for coming back to this thread with that information! =)
