I'm going through a couple of boxes of dollar coins. When I peeled this roll, I just had to take a photo of it. 15 damaged dollars in one machine wrapped roll and 1 dollar short, to boot. I know the fed does not take damaged returns anymore and most banks will not take them, either. I guess I could split them up and put one bad one in each roll I return, but I even hate to do that. Maybe a charity tip jar? What do you do with the damaged coins you run across in roll hunting?    "I like money. I can't believe you like money, too. We should hang out."

Fortunately, my bank (two, actually) accepts damaged coins--as long as they can be properly identified.

As long as they are identifiable you could spend them. They are still legal tender.

Wow, that's crazy!
Pennies with extreme zinc rot - I throw away.
Otherwise, if it was good enough for the feds to wrap, it's good enough for me to rewrap!

I'm a cheapskate. If it's still barely identifiable, even with the bad damage or zinc rot, I'll roll the pennies back up and cash it in at the bank or cash it in at Market Basket.

Roll them and deposit, or spend them as cash tips.

I'd mix them in, one per roll, or drop them in a donation jar.

Not a problem we have in the UK, as we get coins from the bank in bags. But if I get several mutilated 50p coins I take them to my 'dump' bank in separate bags and try to hide them so that they're not obvious when I hand the bags over to exchange for banknotes!

I stick'em back into rolls and return them. I do pull out all slugs and foreign............
