Each coin is individually placed in a plastic bag, then the bags are stapled together. Do you have one like this in your hoard? Most likely it would be very yellowed, probably crinkly and the staple would likely be quite rusty. Report this Post to the Staff
cptbilly Pillar of the Community United States 2068 Posts	Posted Yesterday 7:27 pm 1953, 1954, 1955 Proof Set Packaging Examples: 1953: Staple rust residue visible on the "sleeves"; the Half was sent off for grading 1954: 1955: The materials used for the coin "sleeves" in 1955 caused nasty tarnishing The above proof sets were inherited. . .I would guess 1955 sets that were moved to alternative holders, e.g., Capital Plastics, shortly after receipt have fared better than the example I have. . .1955 sets were also issued in "flat packs"; from the photos I've seen of the '55 flat pack listings on ebay, the condition of those sets is much better.
