Designer: Robert W. Julian. MACO # 1981 - 150. The New York Times devoted its weekly Numismatics column [ Sunday, 11/11/1979 ] to Julian's efforts and noted: Quote: Mr. Julian is widely known among collectors of medallic art, and in the numismatic community at large, as a researcher and writer. More than 125 articles have appeared under his byline during the last two decades. . .and is the author of a much-acclaimed book, "Medals of the U.S. Mint--the First Century," which was published in 1977. Julian donated the profits from his medals to the ANA and ANS. The issue price for the medal shown was $12.50, which included postage and insurance.
