My 1840s US gold coins (my eagle, half eagle, and now my quarter eagle) all have some cool contrast from heavy die polishing. I really like that look, especially on older US gold coins. Do early double eagles ever have that almost prooflike contrast from die polishing?

In pursuing my no motto coronet double eagle, I came across this one and liked it a lot, even though it doesn't "match" my other gold coins from the era. How would you grade this one?

nicely struck coin. the strike helps but I think there is just too many contact marks to pull a 64. i'll call it MS63
