David Graham Pillar of the Community Australia 1623 Posts	Posted Yesterday 04:56 am Hi everyone, I have been noodling an auction purchase of bulk world coins that I purchased some time ago. Among the collection were 80-120 Hong Kong coins of varying denominations and years. Among them was a 1964H 5 cents. Given the scarcity of this coin and the accounts of counterfeits I'm sure this is not genuine but I can't see the signs. It is 16.5mm in diameter and 2.58g in weight. The weight is a little under the 2.592g specified in Numista but I'm not sure how accurate my scales are nor what the variance in weight is over the years of mintage. I cannot see any indicators that the 4 has been re-worked and the H is in the correct position although a touch weak. I'm fully expecting this to be a fake so please don't hold back. In this condiiton, in a "junkbox" lot? I got a Kiribati ten cent coin, with a mintage of only 20 000 pieces, sorting through a dealer's bulk foreign bin. Report this Post to the Staff

It's possible the "H" may have been overlooked by the previous owner of the coin hoard due to the stain spot landing right on top of the mintmark like that.
