*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***The 2026 Lincoln Cent has a dual date and is possibly the last year to ever be minted, it was only available for purchase through the mint. What is your opinions on the 2026 Lincoln is it a possible sleeper to become something special later on? Edited by bcuda Yesterday 5:10 pm

Quote: it was only available through the mint. The same statement is true for every other cent ever minted from 1793 to today. I'm interested to read what opinions our experts have on your question of value for this coin.

The 2026 Lincoln Cent is only available in the uncirculated coin set and at $125.00 per set, after the initial buying spree, I think the market will settle so that in a couple of years the premium won't be too much over that. Just my opinion as it is impossible to say with certainty what the future market will be.

You will see a 2027 cent, and a 2028 cent, and probably a 2029 cent in all the annual mint sets going forward. At least that is what pending legislation allows.

Hucksters on TV are selling them at $300 a pop. Take that for what's worth.

I'm personally not interested in paying ridiculous prices for the 2026 Shield cent. I'm not really interested in it in general honestly.
My Lincoln cents stop at 2009. Beyond that... Meh.

Jbuck I thought there was some kind of legislation being put forth to where there would be no more Lincoln cents minted at all.

No more cents for circulation. The legislation allows NIFC/NCLT cents to continue. Quote: "(1) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary shall cease production of one-cent coins for general circulation, but may continue to produce and issue one-cent coins for sale as numismatic items. Quote: Reference—H.R.3074 - Common Cents Act I hadn't realized they named it the "Common Cents" act If taken literally, rather than as a pun, the act has ceased production of all common cents, while retaining the allowance for production of uncommon cents as numismatic items.

This circumstance is more akin to the 1943 steel hoarding spree than the SVDB. There will be more than enough for collectors.
While the mintage is less than the SVDB, those were released into circulation and attrition did it's dirty work over the years. The 2026 cents are collector only and all of them will be uncirculated and pristine - similar to proofs. The only value will be in the top pops. Sorry, it's no SVDB, not even close. Prices will drop and stabilize once the hype dies - just like any modern mint product. It's primarily a pump-n-dump scheme.

This is fruit loops crazy. For the P&D pair, people are paying enough to buy the complete set.
