The second has too many marks on the obverse, especially the large one right below and to right of the eye, and the other on the high cheek for a MS grade IMHO

By definition lack of wear is the only factor in deciding whether a coin is MS or not.

Here are the survey results.

1894-Fifty-Cents---Grade-This-Coin.--It-May-Or-May-Not-Be-TPG.

I was hoping more would give their opinion on the 2nd and 3rd coins, but I think if you look at them after the fact you can agree that from best to worst the relative coin condition order is 2,1,3. I am wondering why member 11 chose AU55 for coin 2 though. The cheek marks could arguably knock it down to MS60-62 but I'd have to see it in hand. Bag marks are not wear just bad luck of how the coin was situated in the mint bag. Some coins stacked well against each other and were stable during shipment, others not so much.

As for coin 1, almost everyone assessed it as high AU or low MS. No one gave it an MS63; IMO it is not an MS. Even if I had it in hand I doubt it would merit MS. It may have great eye appeal but that is an entirely different coin characteristic that has nothing to do with wear. I think many conflate eye appeal and wear.

Would have loved to take a guess at the second and third coins but I got confused as to whether it was a second and third coin or more of the first. Helpful if only one coin per thread. Loved the post though and always happy to see new posts on the grading forum
