Is it actually a coin or is it a charm?

They are made of nickel-brass. The weight should be 6.8 g and the diameter 21.8mm. It would have cost more to make a charm than to use a genuine threepence, so I imagine this is a real British 1952 threepence to which someone has welded a loop so that it can be used as jewellery such as a charm bracelet.
Here's one from my collection:

I agree with NumisRob. It's a coin that was made into jewelry.
