I thought this shouldn't be that hard to determine, but there are some things going on with this coin that have me stumped.

First, the pictures:

Of the varieties listed on the Fortin site (https://www.seateddimevarieties.com...ntents.htm), this is closest to the F-101 variety (open date). The pictures might suggest otherwise, but I checked with a loupe and can say with 99% certainty that it is indeed an open (weak) date. However, the coin has none of the rim Cuds mentioned in the descriptions by Fortin.

I circled in red the two things on the obverse that give me doubts: there is a raised dot at the shoulder of the seated Liberty lady, and the leftmost arrow seems a little malformed (ALTHOUGH taking a second look at the arrows in the Fortin site, this looks OK -- so it really just concerns the raised dot).

I considered the possibility of a counterfeit, but who in their right mind would counterfeit this series?

Any clues here?

The dot could be a small die chip that can occur on most coins.
The arrow looks OK.

Thanks, @JimmyD!

Looking at the obverse to the right (from the viewer's perspective), I see what up to now looks like could be cleaning marks or scratches, but I am also wondering if this could be a die clash?

Not a die clash, if they are incuse, then they are scratches, if raised then marks on the die.

Nice sharp pics, bobh.
I agree with a die chip and that the arrow is fine.
