That was my thought but received some pushback from the group expert who I find to have some depth of knowledge.

I would have to agree with the "expert", inconclusive at best....

I only see one spikehead, not multiples. Hard to tell if that is a precud, it could go either way.

I think there was a little confusion for the pushback. The person had me calling it a Retained Cud, which it is not. I also agree with makecents that the connection at the base of the bust is questionable. May find out in a month or so as I recommended to the poster that they submit it to Cuds on Coins. Whatever way it turns out, there is no listing right now. By the way, I do want to state I have much respect for the expert of that group but I like here where I can see multiple opinions.

Die cracks--unsure of their full trace/dispersion. Would love--in a perfect world--to evaluate the piece in-hand.

Quote: I only see one spikehead, not multiples. There are three spikeheads, per the spikehead experts. I think we have done this a few times. Quote: All "SPIKE HEADS" will have a die crack from the rim into any portion of the bust. It shall be limited to die cracks found on the obverse of the coin. The designation SKH will identify this type of die crack. Not my words. LINK https://cuds-on-coins.com/spike-head/Quote: Hard to tell if that is a precud, it could go either way. That would be the "inconclusive" thing I threw out there.

That is a large crack on the K5 reverse as well. Those dies were experiencing considerable strain.

Nice set of die cracks But like it is said above - hard to tell, however it is well known that a die crack has been observed transiting the entire bottom of the bust following that edge of Washington.
