Bacchus2 Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2948 Posts	Posted Yesterday 3:05 pm I just picked this up and it's a more interesting one. It looks like a Henry III penny with ION as the moneyer on the reverse. However the full legend is ION ON SANTED (Bury St. Edmunds) and the details put this as a Class 7 long cross penny - so it was actually issued under Edward 1 when the penny's being minted were still using the old long cross format. That put's it date wise in the small 1278/79 window date wise.
