I ordered the 2016 Defenders of Democracy intaglio print set from the BEP. Some feature vignettes used on Military Payment Certificates.

A similar set, Defenders of Freedom, was released in 2014.

Just butting in to say hi - haven't been able to post because I sprained my hand and am in full soft cast.

This is my first obsolete bank note, from the Bank of Wilmington, NC 1855. I grew up in the area so had a fondness for this note and had to have it. I love the nautical theme.

Coinfrog...Hope you feel better soon. I knew something must have been going on since you were not posting.

Kevro...Nice obsolete! That one is not all that common either.

@Coinfrog - get well soon! I'm glad it's just a "structural" injury and nothing worse.

@Meadowview - are there actual notes/reproductions in those Defenders collections?

I don't think these prints contain notes or reproductions of them as it is a single 8.5 x 11" sheet. Here's the single print for the Navy http://www.moneyfactorystore.gov/de...acynavy.aspx

I don't buy much from the BEP however this was one I couldn't pass up.

Thanks, guys. Total bummer - can't drive, for one thing - now learning to hunt-and-peck using my left hand. Watching me eat is not a pretty sight. Can't sign my name - think about that!

Wheat - Beautiful FR 30.

It will probably be a month or more. I can now type left-handed, so posting here will not be a problem, but I cannot use a credit card that requires a signature, for example, or write a check. At this juncture I don't care - pain management is the top priority.

<@Meadowview - are there actual notes/reproductions in those Defenders collections?>

Unfortunately, the BEP no longer reprints historic currency for their intaglio print series (souvenir cards). They claim this is because some unscrupulous dealers have cut-down cards and sold them on ebay as proofs. This is a weak argument, imho, and I'd like to see the return of currency on these cards, but it would take a lot of public pressure.

Btw, Meadowview, good for you on picking up the Defenders of Freedom! It's a nice set and took forever for the BEP to finally release. These aren't going to be limited edition like the Defenders of Democracy cards, which raised some ire with collectors because they sold out so quickly. They will remain available indefinitely at the visitor center gift shop and online.
