Wheat - That stamped and signed B/E is most unusual in my experience. What do you speculate the occasion was? And paper quality aside, it's hard to figure why this didn't get an easy 64.  |

Wheat, I think those courtesy notes are awesome. I can't imagine how surreal it would be to be in office and to sign your name to something like that. What an honor.... both to sign... and to own.  Edited by CelticKnot

My latest purchase: 1862 $20 State of North Carolina Obsolete Currency. It is the CR.#78c. It's a pretty rare variety for this issue. It's in great shape and now I'm looking forward to sending it to PMG. I know there are not too many collectors of obsolete currency here but I thought I would share this example.  |

This guy came in the mail today. This is my first PCGS Currency graded note and I'm a little concerned about it. It checks out on their web site but it just seems odd to me in that the grading, bar code, and information are on a sticker on the outside of the window. Is this standard for PCGS Currency? Seems sketchy considering other graded notes I've seen have all of that contained on the inside. If it's not legit, I didn't pay much for it, so no big deal either way (and the seller is reputable so I could probably return). Appears to be a genuine web note regardless.  |

Note and holder appear to be genuine.
The PCGS label is paper and folds over the top opening with little openings on each side to vent the note in the holder.
PMG and CGA encapsulate the label and note in separate pockets and do not vent. The knock on PMG was that their holder was slightly tinted, and they (PMG) changed to a clear holder last year.

Thanks, Steve. That's exactly the situation here. Sticker folds over the top. Just seemed odd to me never having had one in hand before. Of course now I want to upgrade to a nicer 88A web.  |
