@Coinfrog... here is the CCF-optimized version of the SC I posted a few days back.

Post-Your-New-Currency-Acquisitions!

And here is the same scan, resized with a different editor.

Post-Your-New-Currency-Acquisitions!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the CCF optimizer, but I do know it's the same amount of clicks to use a different one to get much better results. The only thing the new conversion could have improved was upgrading the SC to a 67 magically.

Kyle -

Thanks to you, others and especially Bobby (Forum Dad), I have finally crawled out of my cave. Here is an updated version of a crude image shown a couple of pages back (173).

Bravo!

What was the key? Did you end up using the CCF optimizer?

No. I tried several, and thanks to Bobby, finally settled on http://www.online-image-editor.com

This particular image is 1000 pixels wide, and it seems fine for me, but I think I could enlarge it without difficulty.

Why do simple scans resized on the new Image Optimizer download in PNG on my computer? I most appreciate your help in reconfiguring these to JPEG on an outside site, but why should this be necessary? Is my computer the issue here, or the new IO?

Picked this up recently at under $280, couldn't resist at the price. Common note, of course, but in 65 condition with strong paper wave and great margins on both sides.

Very nice 1914 $5 Mr.Frog.

I like (prefer) the face of our current $5 over this 1914 version, but love the vignettes on the back of the 1914 $5.

Indeed, the Federal Reserve Notes and Federal Reserve Bank Notes of the 'teens and 'twenties incorporated a whole new look in reverse designs, all of which (sadly) came to an end with the advent of small currency.
