Nice web note steve. What gave it a 50 grade? From the photo it certainly looks like it would have graded a bit higher. What am I not seeing clearly?

Whenever a note is photographed flat, or in this case, scanned, it doesn't show the true nature of the note. This photo was taken with side lighting, which is one of many ways to enhance folds and handling marks. I used this, and a flat photo on another forum and asked what they thought it would grade. I heard everything from VF to AU.  One of the reasons I always hesitate to chime in when posters ask, what grade is my note, with just a flat photo to judge. Edited by SteveInTampa

Thanks for the raw photo. A great example as well of how a photo / scan can mislead (unintentionally or intentionally) what a note truly looks like.

Steve, That's quite a difference  If they didn't have the same serial number, then I wouldn't even have thought they were the same note  |

Oooh, nice pickups! The Hawaii $20 has a few creases but the NA $1 appears to be in pretty good shape. Centering is a bit off tho. I've never seen that MPC. Cool!

Yes, the $20 Hawaii does have a crease that runs about 1/2 down the note - it's not a fold, just a crease. Otherwise the bill is crisp.
I really like the Liberty on the back of the MPC - they should have used that on the Liberty Medal they made last year.
Does anyone know if the Series 64 on the MPC is the year of production? (1964)?

Many years ago, I bought a Black Eagle. It was a VF-35 (no Q) with decent eye appeal. I've been looking to upgrade to an XF-AU example with *PQ. There are many to choose from, and last night I won this on the Heritage Tuesday night auction. It's everything I wanted. Natural paper wave and original paper with good eye appeal. Recently I've been gravitating towards nice AU notes with original paper. This, to me, is the sweet spot for really nice notes without the GEM pricing.   |
