Very interesting article on the design elements of the 1914 $20 FRN "Dave L" which was engraved by Marcus W Baldwin.

I really enjoyed the way you track down the origin to the 4 methods of transportation featured (German ship liner; Benoit Flying boat; 4-6-2 steam engine & the 1912 Chevrolet Little Six car). This took real detective work as the vehicles were not derived from any one specific brand/model but rather a composite of the vehicles popular in that era.

I was very impressed with how you also tracked down the 1923 German Notgeld which features a similar engraving graphic on their note. Your enthusiasm for tracking down the historical influences of a note made me check over your site again (& enjoyed reading & reading about various world currencies).

Folks: if you haven't already checked out Dave's Currency Den website, I highly recommend it if you have a couple hours to lose yourself in the many currencies he's become so familiar with.

Dave L - Thanks, and I commend that reference to all - most interesting read. I have heard that the battleship on the reverse of the $2 1918 FRBN was essentially the USS New York.

Wheat - You do have some wonderful nationals!

Nice Norton note. Is it signed by Ed Norton and Ralph Cramden?

Harley, nice note. PMG was tough that day, but the EPQ is a bonus.
