got this at the show I think the show was OK I saw more people then last November but I only go Saturday so I wouldn't now about the rest of the days

Probably 1/4 to 1/3 of the tables were empty and many dealers were in the process of packing up. More like I would expect it be on Sunday morning instead of Saturday morning. So I did think it was a little slow. There was a big BioPhysics conference going on at the same time and the coin show got moved from its normal exhibit halls to other halls. I heard some dealers complaining that they didn't like the different location/layout. Maybe that had something to do with it. Edited by BadDog

I have a couple of ad-back CSA repro $20's but this $10 is the first of its type I've run across and would love to know if anyone's seen one like this one! The obverse is a modified version of the "5089" $10 repro note (Richmond 9/2/1861) with what appears to be a copyright date of 1919 in the lower left. Reverse is an advertisement for Ratliff's Dancing Academy, San Diego, CA, with a neat little poem about Confederate paper money. From what little I can find on Google, this particular dancing academy was active in the 1920s, so with that and the 1919 (?) copyright I think this probably dates to the 20s or early 30s at the latest. If this isn't the best place for this post, please move it for me. I thought it was pretty neat and worth a share. Very interesting - I know little about Confederate currency, and absolutely nothing about this sort of thing.

Paralyse... I have one similar to yours but mine has a political advertising angle. The candidate ....a fellow by the name of Bill Surratt.... was running for sheriff of McClennan County, Texas. I don't think Bill won. He was born in 1886 and died in 1962. Based on that, and his flattering picture on the note, I'd estimate he was in his 40's when he was running for office. So, I'd date the note to the late 1930's to the mid 1940's.   |

That may be closer to the accurate date. I see yours almost certainly was made by the same company as mine.
