That sounds right. I can see a center fold and a trace of one on the left quarter. Very attractive, have a similar one somewhere, will try to find it.  |

Very common note on a very common bank, but it shows there are bargains out there if you're patient. This has crisp paper, deep embossing and a good shot at a 65PQ grade. Late in the auction, everyone must have been spent up, got it for $113.50!   |

Super nice example Mr.Frog, from this Pittsburgh bank that in 1935 had the eleventh largest National circulation in the country.
Bargain price too...I've seen AU's sell for more than that.

Nice one Mr. Frog. Somewhat misaligned plates, you tell me does that affect grade? I know if there was "normal" off-centering it would, but not sure about plate misalignment. This one looks like it has a bit of both.

A scarcer Richmond Va bank with the added bonus of a Napier/Thompson treasury signature combo. Also, 19 UNC State of NC $1 notes. These look like cut sheets with quite a few consecutives.   Edited by WheatBack

Wheat - That's nice. And Napier/Thompson is tough for sure.
jimbucks - It's a judgment call on my part. I've seen worse and better in PMG 65 holders.

I posted this recent purchase on the "Pre-1900 Notes" thread, but thought I'd show it here as well. This Series 1891 Treasury issue differs from its much scarcer Series 1890 cousin by the greatly simplified reverse design (compare below). This note has fully original paper, no folds and only slight evidence of handling. I would grade it AU55 or AU-58.    |
