Because it is dirty and I mostly buy my ancients dirty, I am going to say that it is Roman. Now wouldn't THAT be cool?

To my eyes, it looks a little too flat and sharp-edged to be an ancient.
It could be a lot of things--a slug, token, or even a balance weight--are there any markings?

I bet its a sixpence. It looks exactly like the one I found yesterday. It was 1962 and black as black.

Well the orange section looks like Charlie Chaplin, the blue section looks like a polar bear in a clown suit, the yellow section looks like an indian rowing a canoe, and the green section look like a saber tooth tiger head. So I say it's a token for a 1920's Charlie Chaplin silent movie that stars a dancing polar bear and a saber tooth tiger in the wild west. Did I nail it or what?  |
