OK cosmos...apparently my humor and common sense aren't your cup of tea. My advice to you if it's OK, is that in 40 years of buying and selling silver I'm probably ahead a few bucks, but, growing tomatos and fishing have been a better investment by tenfold...seriously! There are many other better ways to make a few bucks. Silver really isn't going to help you buy food, medicine, housing, etc. anytime in the near or far future.

Looks like you can't buy groceries with silver but you might be able to buy some mary-wanna! I'm getting a headache.

If I took 8 silver roosevelts to the store I couldn't even buy a loaf of bread. I might be able to with 15 of them.

You would if they realized the value. And as an aside. Now many of our friends in the world are going to the UN due to our spYing on them.

Because it took you 50 years to see that value. Thats a lifetime. Look at what the stock market did in that time and try and argue that silver outperformed that or even matched it.

Your argument is its better to hold silver than the dollar because of the increase yet the dollar investments outperformed it over those 50 years and it really wasnt even close.

Metals have their purpose but 1893 is right its a rich mans investment. You dont make a ton of money on metals but huge value increases, you make it by having so much that you see huge increases from the smaller price movements.

Ok today could turn into an interesting day. The only hold back could be that we have a Friday and there might be hesitation on the part of traders to go long over the weekend.

In anycase watch gold today. Our proxy as always is GLD. Right now it is testing the upper end of this range. Yesterday there was an attempt to poke through and then it settled lower. SO lets see if it just sits here at the upper range or decides to move lower.

In the case of silver, we are in this range also. But no clear test of the upper range and the same in regards to the lower end either. We need more time as well here.

Looking at the daily action, from yesterday-

GLD- higher high, higher low, poked its head into the upper range and attempted to get over it.

SLV- higher high, higher low. dead in the center of the range.

So again for today, 10/25 we are looking to see if gold takes itself out of this range its been trading in for weeks. over 130.53 on the GLD would signal higher prices.

PMs will never be money again

Sorry I missed all the action but when booty calls, I answer..

Maybe not basebal but it will be used to back different currencies. That's why central banks and governments are accumulating gold, especially China...

...(China...)fully committed to ALWAYS buying dollars and US debt

The US and its dollar is (for now) the heart of the financial system world wide.
So the US debt is at the heart of the heart of the same system.
Your debt is growing faster than your GDP and that is UNSUSTAINABLE.

The Chinese fully recognizes this and are already positioning themselves to come out smelling like roses if there's a collapse caused by whatever reason.
The political reasons why they were buying US debt up to now is changing, they have actually stopped adding to their stockpile AND
just recently entered agreements with the euro zone bypassing the "middleman" the US dollar.
They actually offloaded $37.6 billion in Treasuries since 2011.

Metals would be just as worthless in North America as the dollar if that became worthless.

Heh? Since the exponential US debt growth, gold has climbed to levels never seen before. So if the dollar dies how does gold become worthless?

The notion that when society collapsed you'd be able to take your lump of silver to the 7-11 for a pack of smokes and some beef jerky will go down in history as one of the greatest long cons of all time

Well, actually it already started in L.A. even when society didn't collapse.

Miggs didnt you guys soften the stance on guns not to long ago?

To please his conservative supporters out West, PM Harper did abolish the gun registry but only AFTER everybody registered their guns.
In the beginning they said it would cost 10 million but ended up costing 1 billion...

And as I pointed out in the gun's thread before, Alberta's RCMP busted down evacuated houses (after a flood) where they knew the addresses of gun owners and CONFISCATED them.
See how that works?
US citizens, PLEASE BEWARE.
