...in a cube of Lucite in an antique store today.

I did not buy, but I thought it worthy of a quick snap of a pic my phone to share here:

Found-BU-1969-Cents...

"That's illegal to do" said a patron next to me of the encapsulation.

"Could be," I replied, "but try to find someone to enforce it."

I wouldn't exactly consider 1969 pennies antiques. Are there any 1969-S doubled dies in there?

Here are some antique Indian Head cents preserved for posterity.

Ha! No accounting for what's in the store, it's one of them antique malls that has multiple vendors selling things though the place.

The MM's I saw were D's.

I have one with gold-plated 1985 Canadian pennies, and another with a 1968 nickel dollar.
Rest in Peace

I was just wondering if you found a nice S-VDB Lincoln or 1877 Indian encased in Lucite, would there be a way to get them out and what shape would the coin be in then?

You could easily dissolve lucite in many solvents (acetone, THF, MEK), it might take a while to dissolve a large piece, but the coins would be unharmed.

This was extremely popular around 1970 and in 1973 I had made numerous cubes with coins, photos, gold watch parts, etc. inside multi-shaped forms and gave most of them out as gifts.

The few I had kept for myself was tossed in the garbage sometime in the late 80's or early 90's as the plastic turned a ugly yellowish color..
Rest in Peace
