Searched through 54 rolls of pennies today. One of my regular tellers also gave me a 1962 dime which was nice of her. Older Canadian finds were: 1938, 1940, 1946, 1947, 1950, 1952, 1957, and 1958. Found 4 wheat cents, a 2 euro cent coin, and 2 five euro cent coins. Best find was another type II blank planchet which is my 3rd one found so far.

^^^ That coin is from Thailand. ^^^ Nalaberong will likely give you more information.

I was curious about the blank small cent planchets I've found so I weighed them. The weights are: 3.20g, 3.12g, and 2.48g. Which means the 3.20g coin is a copper Canadian small cent planchet from before 1980. The 3.12g coin is a copper U.S small cent planchet and the 2.48g coin is a zinc U.S small cent planchet.

Is there any way to divide this thread into their own denominations instead of all Canadian coins? I'm willing to help organize.

Fresh New Box of Nickel 100$ = 50 Rolls

My first box was a total bust, everything was pre-2000 with the exception of 2 Euro coins.

Now this box had a whole different story to tell. The first roll started off with 4 pre-1965 coins. Anyways i'll share what I found out of those 50 rolls.

US Nickels (Total: 23)

Hole Fillers (8): 1974-D, 1982-P, 1983-P, 1986-D, 1998-D, 1999-D, 2008-P, 2013-D
Upgrades (1): 2004-P

(Fun Fact: I had half a roll of US nickels, all in excellent shape, and 3 coins with gold/silver glitter and glue, must a been on sum little kid school project)

Canadian Nickels

Hole Fillers (10): 1978, 1973, 1968, 1966, 1952, 1951, 1950, 1945, 1942, 1937
Upgrades (5): 1981, 1965, 1949, 1948

(All of the coin are near mint, I had a almost a full roll of 1949's, most of them are in excellent shape for their age, must of came from someones collection)

Here's the run down of the nickels Pre-1965 (118).

- 1964: 3
- 1963: 1
- 1962: 1
- 1961: 4
- 1957: 1
- 1952: 8
- 1951: 2
- 1950: 13
- 1949: 38 *WoW*
- 1948: 1
- 1947: 16
- 1946: 8
- 1945: 4
- 1942: 2
- 1941: 6
- 1940: 8
- 1939: 1
- 1937: 1

For the 99% Nickels (1970-1981): 83

For the Cupronickels (1982-1999): 181

(Note: I keep everything pre-1970, thus why the 99% are from 1970-1981)

In Total I had 1992 nickels out of a possible 2000, but I did find two 10-cents.

All in all a very very good box, I'll be getting my other box something in the next week or 2. I'll be posting my find from my 2 Pennie boxes soon.

Hopefully you enjoyed this box result as much as I did opening them.

Thanks.

I looked at a roll of quarters and two rolls of nickels today, like usual in the weekdays. I don't have too much time in the weekdays but I like to look at coins so I just get a couple of rolls.

Past week was a bummer, just machine wrapped steels, but today was amazing!
For someone who's just been CRHing for just more than a month a couple of rolls a day these are awesome finds

Quarters:
1x 2006 Bravery
3x Olympic quarters (I'm keeping these to give out or trade)
1x 1980
1x 1968 silver! My first silver in a roll! Now I know how both a 80% and a 50% sound like
1x Mississippi State Quarter
1x Iowa State Quarter

Nickels roll 1 (1 coin short):
1x 1980
2x 1985
1x 1994
1x 1998
1x 1999
1x 2000
1x 1996P Jeff nickel
1x 1998P Jeff nickel
1x 1983 50 won South Korea

Nickels roll 2:
2x 1999
1x 1988
1x 1981 covered in glue
1x 1981
1x 1979
1x 1977 low 7
1x 1975
1x 1961
1x 1960 at the top end! I peeked in the roll, saw the bust and thought, "Probably another '64 MG" but when I opened the roll more turns out it was 12-sided! My first!
1x 1961 quite nice Jeff nickel

Canadian-Roll-Hunting

Silver! I've been putting my only silver quarter (it's a '63) randomly in a bunch of quarters and picking it out several times to learn identify silver fast by looking at its edge (I can often pick out cupronickel nickels by just looking at the rim because they are yellower, but nickel ones are tougher to pick out) and there, in the roll, a really white edge in between grey ones

Canadian-Roll-Hunting

My first 2 12-sided nickels. The body of the 1960 one is worn smooth and it looks kind of funny.

Canadian-Roll-Hunting

Quite nice. There's parallel lines running down it, I don't know if it's originally there or if it was cleaned. XF?

Canadian-Roll-Hunting

In fact, I think I'll go back tomorrow morning and see if they still have more of these rolls. I'll carry the same things like I did today: the '63 quarter, a sixpence, 2 bent quarters, and my voyageur (but mostly to save having to describe what a voyageur is to the tellers every time).
My luck IS getting better with the sixpence. Old-timey superstition wasn't wrong, silver sixpences really are lucky

Edit: wolfman-11, I'm quite sure your coin is a Thai 1 baht.

Picked up 44 rolls of pennies at the bank today. Older Canadian finds were: 1943, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957, 1958. Found 5 wheat cents including a 1926. Found 1 British one penny and also got 3 more from a little dish they let me look through at TD. Found a 2 euro cent coin and one roll was all dimes (48) and found an additional dime in another roll.

Only 1 roll of quarters and 2 rolls of nickels since they only have machine wrapped other than these 3 hand wrapped.

1 roll of quarters:
1x 1994D Washington quarter
11x steel commemoratives
1x small bust mountie quarter (again!)

Nickel roll 1 (38 nickels + a 1980 dime):
2x 2005 VE anniversary
1x 1977 low 7

Nickel roll 2:
1x 1972
1x 1984
1x 1988
1x 2001 no P (my first )

And since it was almost closing time and there was no one else behind me I asked if I can look through their loose change tray. I found:
1x 1999P Georgia State Quarter
1x 2006P North Dakota State Quarter
1x 1964 Jeff nickel
1x 1995P Jeff nickel that looks like the lettering is melting as it goes towards the rim as a curio
1x 1953 NSF penny
1x 1996 Panama cent (thought the bust was pretty neat)
1x 1977 UK new penny

Not as great as yesterday but the 2001 no P nickel was something new for my collection!

Another 1 quarter and 2 nickel. I also got 1 box of pennies but I won't be finished with that for a long time.

Quarters:
1x 1974
5x steel commemoratives
1x 2001D Rhode Island State Quarter
1x 2002P Louisiana State Quarter

Nickel roll 1:
1x 1985
1x 1994
1x 1999

Nickel roll 2:
1x 1984
2x 1987
1x 1989
1x 1998
1x 2000P
1x 2001 no P
1x 1996P Jeff

A 2000P and a 2001 no P in the same roll. Amazing isn't it? What are the chances of that happening? Very small I think.

I'm glad to see you're having fun!
You will likely find more 2001 no-p than 2000p I get them quite regularly.

be sure to check 1990 1980 1965 and 1964 nickels carefully.

I found a double date 1980 and 1964 extra water line but needed to confirm it under a magnifier.
1980's nickels tend to be pretty crappy so if you find really nice ones they are worth keeping in my opinion

I found a 1946 a 1954 for my book and a couple blue 1952's and 1953's for spares this week.

This is a lot of fun

I now have 2 each 2000P and 2001 no P.

Just had a quick look through a box of pennies. Found 2 LWCs in the roll I saved for last because I had trouble opening! They're mostly copper. Also there's a couple of red 60s and a bunch of red 70s and 80s. No pics, sorry, I put therm back in their rolls because I will sort through them when I have more time.

I haven't been looking at quarters and nickels lately. I was re-looking at my old penny box results and sorting and tallying the post-2000 pennies. I haven't done for the copper ones.

Sure! Correct me if I'm wrong:
1964 is extra water line and spitting queen
1965 is large beads
1980 is double date
1990 is bare belly beaver
Don't worry, I keep all pre-2000 nickels. I'm thinking of selling a couple of rolls of cupronickel ones though because I have so many now.

Just asking, did you find the chrome ones in rolls?
