That could be a fake that was covered in tar to disguise it

fortcollins, maybe that "dime" belonged to Alan Shepard. After all, he was one of the Mercury astronauts and he did make it to the moon.

This poor listing reminds me of a salt shaker.

Ten dollars for $45. Let me jump right on that!

(Shipping shows $10 for me, I guess it is based on location?)

Shipping is $20 for me (I'm on the west coast; seller is in New York). Flat rate priority might be cheaper than that. Maybe I'd save a couple of bucks if one of you bought it and shipped it on to me.

Maybe the seller will offer free local pick-up to sweeten the deal?

The first item ever sold on ebay was a broken laser pointer. You never know what someone wants - or how much they'll pay - until you try.

This is a Vise Job, which is just Post Strike Damage ( PSD). This seller is passing it off as an 'error' coin and it's just a completely trashed coin worth one cent. 264125102282

Almost all of this seller ( gossett46 )'s coins and notes are overpriced and some seem to be obvious fakes. 18th century coins aren't "ancient".

Can it be that s/he actually sells this stuff ?

Pertinax, all of his so called 'error' coins are fake. They have been damaged after they left the U.S. Mint. It's Post Strike Damage ( PSD).

I think a couple of those so-called "error" coins were posted on CCF a while back. I'm sure I've seen one of the garden variety laminations that he/she insists are die breaks.

That's scary bad garbage being palmed off.
