Maybe there is something to the parallel universe argument--perhaps there is a parallel ebay, kind of.

It's hard to believe mr brass penny guy has an 1890-CC tailbar Morgan dollar... in his other listings.

I would really question the authenticity of that piece. I by no means consider myself an expert on the subject, but after being a lifelong collector, I can usually spot discrepancies that puts up a red flag. I wouldn't consider that coin to be classified AU with the amount of wear it has, appears to have been cleaned and possibly polished (notice the rounded edges of the pitting on the cheek, and the rounded edges of the lettering and stars but little to no wear on the denticles and rim).

My guess is that this guy was lucky to have these coins passed down to him, and he has no clue about what he has other than what was written on the envelopes each coin was in. That would explain the over grading, the inability to spot a cleaned/polished coin, and the his Buy It Now values are based on graded book values.

Hey Igor22, I know that the 1890-CC tailbar is on the list of wow vams on vamworld.com. with what you are saying though. It obviously goes without saying that if we know what the real deal looks like, one can spot inconsistencies faster.
Yeah, and that earlier post on that rambling description of that 2006 ND quarter is very entertaining to read thru.

Dang

I can't link the archive since CCF breaks the link and I'm not allowed to use a URL Shortner, ugh.

Our friend is selling an over-hyped 1776-1976 quarter for $300... but the photo shows a 1997 quarter!

Numisrob, my best offer to him would be just 0.50 cents for whichever quarter he decides to send. And a little message telling him his quarter is nothing special.
