Before we leave the seateds, I found this 1858-S in a box. Can anyone explain the flaw in Liberty's right hand? I always thought it was damage, but I wonder if it's a strike flaw.   "Two minutes ago I would have sold my chances for a tired dime." Fred Astaire

Did they use money in the old west? I thought it was just pouches of gold that they tossed on the table in exchange for a bottle of burbon or a new gun. And... those were the only things they sold.

Cascade that 1881 S is still looking good. I am glad it found
a good home. Good example that coins can hold up in 2x2's.
That coin must have been there over 40 years.

For the record ham, I intend to post a grubby 1916-D walker on the last day of this thread, so I see your 1887 gold dollar as a nice precedent. Even if it was made using Colorado gold, it's a coin of the old west via Philly.
And come to think of it Denver is in the old west too.
