I've been to Cooperstown. There's a number of neat things there I'll never forget. One was Shoeless Joe Jackson's shoes.   Neat CWT token! |

and as I look at them now I see to my great joy for the first time that they are not identical ! details in design are different (rose on reverse top, inner circles) and Dugniolle online has numbered the second as "3796b . same as 3796 but on backside interpunction . and *" http://www.dugniolle.com/dugniolle3701-3800.htmlEdited by 1c5d7n5m

These two deeply toned medals arrived and I try to show the blues and purples. I posted that I would not have gone to sleep if I didn't grab these before they were gone here. http://goccf.com/t/301479&whichpage=121#2948231I bought them shortly after I nabbed my third Annie Oakley Marlin 39 the other day. 1971 NRA Colt Peacemaker minted by International MintOne of the more popular of the 30 medals in the set. 1873 Single Action Army revolver. Popular calibers were 44-40 and 45 Long Colt. High quality and attractive modern clones exist by Italian makers such as Uberti and Cimarron and are commonly used in Cowboy shooting competitions or just collected for being available at a fraction of the cost of a vintage Colt six shooter. But don't get caught calling a clone a "Peacemaker" or a "Colt 45" around those hardnose modern day cowboys. LOL 1971 Winchester 94 Carbine .999 NRA International MintAnother of the more popular of the 30 medals in the set. I imagine that Theodore Roosevelt had quite a few Model 94 Winchester rifles and carbines but why he is on the front of this medal is not very clear to me as his favorite Winchester was a Model 1895 in .405. That was the rifle he took on safari in Africa to shoot really big game. He nicknamed the 1895 "Big Medicine". There are millions of Winchester 94 carbines out there. There are some that are quite valuable. Generally those made before 1964 are more desirable than newer ones, but there are many collector editions too. I never met a 94 I didn't like. Edited by TNG

A BIG 90 mm heavy bronze medal here. 1974 Natal - Three Kings by Cabral Antunes Since I was a little kid, there was always a Christmas card that was tacked above the door that everyone came and went through at our house. It was always the first Three Kings card that showed up in the mail that year. Not the favorite, but the first. It stayed there all year until the next year's Christmas cards started to arrive. It was supposed to bring good luck. I kind of changed the tradition as I never took any old ones down since, well, for the most part, things have gone very good for us overall. At our old house we had 20 or more up and then we put on an addition and I put all those in the wall above the door and they were dry-walled over. Then there were maybe 6 or 8 new ones and when we moved, I left them there for the new owners. I told them it worked for us. A couple times we had to mail ourselves one. But never missed doing this each year. Now we have 5 up there since we moved to our new house. Life has been good. The Three Kings and the story of the Nativity are special to me.  |

thisistheshow, I am sincerely glad you enjoyed that. That tradition goes back on my mothers side quite a bit longer than I've been around. I don't know how long people have been exchanging Christmas cards though.
