Medal shows more wear than I thought I saw in the online image,
but the seller stated "very-good" condition and is not a coin dealer,
but a political trinket seller.

New arrival for my World's Fair collection
AFRICAN PAVILION
NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR 1964 - 1965
First a pic from the ebay listing. The seller did note the diameter was a half-inch.
In spite of that wording I was surprised at it's small size when it arrived!
Medal is flat metal, quite thin, which has a stamped impression, raised on the obverse, and recessed on the reverse.
I'm not able to find much about this except for a blog referenced here:

The same medal with loop was used as a bracelet charm was also used as a topper for souvenir spoons, knives and forks:

Some sort of service medal for the Dauntless Superannuation Society (pensions, UK?) dated 1869. It was listed at auction as an abstinence medal due to the design which matches other such medals championing Sobriety and Domestic Comfort. But it is a cutout on red ceramic rather than a solid medal. Some connection or just a hijacked design?   |
