Marianne, symbol of France, traditionally wears a Phrygian Cap. Her hair falls loose around it on the aluminium-bronze 5, 10 and 20-centimes issued from the 1960s up to the introduction of the Euro:  It's less obvious that she's wearing it on the new 1, 2 and 5 eurocent coins:  On the other hand, the various holed 5, 10 and 25 centime coins issued between 1914 and WW2 have a Phrygian Cap with nobody wearing it!
