no US landfall... perfect. hopefully it passes by bermuda, too, with little-to-no impacts. after several lackluster nights, last night I picked $1.29 in well-scattered change. running total is at $415. it should end up in the neighborhood of $440 by mid-november, but I'm hoping for as close to $450 as possible. of course, more than $450 would be great. this time of year I start getting crabby because I'm really tired of being soggy every day. it has been a long, hot summer and I'm ready for fall temperatures. temps here don't fall off a cliff the way they do up north. it's a lengthy, slow draw-down to mild/mildly cool temps and it seems to take forever. 8 weeks and a few days until black friday.

MrPink, you need one of these to change your ones to Benjamins.

MrPink - you're doing far better than me. I got a severely roadrashed 1980 penny yesterday and that's the first coin of any sort I've found on the sidewalk in weeks.

Quote: you're doing far better than me i can't explain why I find as much as I do. people here are just no good at keeping their change in their pockets, their hands, their cars, their purses. they drop a good deal of money all day, every day. I come out at night to see what the homeless have missed. I did a little better tonight, having picked a well-scattered $1.56, all coins, most roadrashed. however, I was 'pulled over' again. this must be about the 8th time in 3 years. I was 'pulled over' for... riding my bike. the cop asked me what I was doing, like it wasn't obvious enough. I told him: riding my bike. he held out his arms looking around at the buildings that I was not near and said all these places are closed (like those closed buildings had anything to do with me riding my bike) and said my riding through a (big empty) parking lot was suspicious. I said no it's not, no matter if it's 1am or 1pm, me riding my bike through a big empty parking lot is not suspicious. I do it every night and have done so for the past 8 years, without any trouble. he ran my ID. found nothing. he asked me several more pointless questions before letting me go and urging me to exit the parking lot, which I did, but after first giving him an earful. ...and so on, blah blah blah. I see it as nothing more than harassment. if I would have had a fireball in my hand, that could have been suspicious. if my clothes had been covered in fresh blood, that could have been suspicious. if I would have had a live baby dangling from my handlebars, that would have been suspicious. if I would have been carrying a loaded AR-15, that would have been suspicious. but just riding my bike through the middle of large empty parking lot?... i digress. I'm just tired of being pulled over every so often just to hear 'what you doing?' 8 weeks to black friday.
